Secure your place on this project for just £99 Deposit - Limited Time Offer! Our projects in India will take you on a human adventure you will never forget. You will have the rewarding opportunity to care for young orphaned children or to work to children with learning and physical disabilities. The projects both take place in Madurai, Southern India, and need enthusiastic volunteers to care, love and entertain the kids. Nothing is more rewarding than helping young children grow and feel loved!
The main care centre where we work is at a home for victims of female infanticide and abandoned children. Their mission is to help them first to survive and then to ensure the right of the child to a family. There are around 20 children at the orphanage, but this number changes frequently as new children are brought in or are adopted.
All of the children’s backgrounds are heartbreaking; some of them have been found abandoned in nearby churches or temples and others are surrendered by their parents. The children are all in desperate need of tender loving care ... and this is where you come in!
Care for kids with disabilities:
We work with a large institution based in Madurai that cares and schools approximately 160 children ranging from babies to the age of 45. About 130 of these students are provided with residential care; the others are brought to the school each day by their parents. The children mainly suffer from Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Autism, Epilepsy, Deafness and some of the children are slow learners and dyslexic. The aim of the school is to help the children to study, build confidence and develop essential life skills.
