Country: Costa Rica,
Type: Manual work / Construction, Teaching & Education, Working with children,

The Community Education project aims to provide educational and community support and development to the underprivileged children of the most deprived area of San Ramon. The center operates as a day care center in the mornings and as an after school club and community center in the afternoons and evenings.

As a volunteer on this project your general duties will be to look after the children and provide them with the educational and interactive support needed.

Reading is one of the biggest hurdles for the attendants of the center. Many have illiterate parents, so the center pays particular attention to reading and helping children with their homework.

The center also acts as a safe environment where the children can play supervised by volunteers. The center has several outdoor play areas including basketball, football, and swings for the younger children. There is also a computer room and an inside hall for other activities.

If you have any specialized skills such as sport, a game, arts and crafts, dance, theatre, computers etc. then this is an ideal placement for you. Sharing your skill in the format of running small workshops for the children of the center make great placements and the children of the center love these workshops.
