Environmental conservation volunteering in Australia

Print this page

Country: Australia,
Type: Environment & Wildlife Conservation,
Organisation: kayavolunteer

Volunteer in Australia and work for a well established not- for- profit conservation organisation. These projects have the environment at the heart of their mission which is to protect, preserve and restore Australia’s unique, natural beauty. Australia faces climate instability, so disasters from forest fires to flooding can hit unexpectedly and impact the natural environment drastically. Volunteers are needed to bring enthusiasm and energy to a team of disaster relief workers, who work tirelessly to conserve the area for locals and tourists to enjoy.

Activities and locations are varied, depending on what the need is at the time you volunteer.  Activities which may include environmental monitoring, heritage restoration, tree planting, endangered species protection and disaster relief to name some. This project will be enjoyed by all who have a love for the outdoors, who are environmentally concerned and up for a challenge.

Volunteers can volunteer in: Queensland, Northern or Southern territory, Western Australia, Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria.

Each location has their own conservaiton efforts, and you will move around the state taking part in different areas. Volunteers work in groups of 6-10 and are assigned which projects they will be doing upon arrival. This means you will get to know those you work with closely, improving on teamwork and communication skills.

Evenings will be very sociable events, where volunteers take turns to cook and spend time getting to know each other. Weekends are your free time, and we advise taking advantage of working with those with local knowledge, so they can tell you how to get the most out of your trips and excursions.

If you want to go further afield, Australia could not be more diverse in what it has to offer. Water sports are hugely popular, and international attractions such as Ayres rock and Sydney harbour are sure to impress.

All projects are self-funded, but include accommodation, food, airport transfer and training. Click to apply and a project advisor will be in touch to discuss price and availability.
