This sports coaching and community work placement in the Andes seeks to integrate boys and girls into sports. The project aims to foster not only sporting technical skills but also teach values around teamwork, gender equity and communication.
There are two additional community-based activities for children from impoverished families. The day care centre for very young children wants to incorporate physical activities into it’s the centre’s work. An after school club for children aged 10-11 also benefits from the addition of structured sports activities, where culture and international relations lessons run twice a week with children aged13 - 16. The project also seeks to develop their English as well as work on a cultural exchange.
Depending on your skills and experience you may be able to get involved in the following activities:
• run football coaching classes twice a week with boys and girls
• run after school sports activities for children aged 10-11 years old
• run sports activities with children aged 3-4 years old, including those with special education needs
• participate in international relations and cultural exchange lessons with students aged 13-16
