Country: Ghana,
Type: Teaching & Education, Working with children,

Teaching in low-income communities can increase employment opportunities and ultimately help people to become economically independent. These students, of all ages and backgrounds would appreciate the opportunity to interact with fluent speakers and the extra assistance would be welcomed by local teachers. Volunteers with qualification in respective fields can provide a real contribution to the community and have great fun in the process. If you are a French speaker or fluent in other foreign languages you will be welcomed into schools to share your knowledge.

Volunteers don’t necessarily need teaching experience to take part in and enjoy our teaching placements as long as they have the specific qualifications .This program is open to all volunteers in various fields, they really benefit the students they work with, while gaining valuable skills themselves. Placements are in primary or secondary schools and special schools. All our placements have one thing in common: a genuine need for qualitative education.

Most schools welcome volunteers who want to get involved in other aspects of school life, or run extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs such as: Sports, drama and music.

Volunteering teachers wishing to take part in the book project could come along with as much school books as possible , be it used or brand new areas such as:

  • And story books of all ages
  • Mathematics
  • English language
  • General science
  • Text books on; chemistry, physics, biology,
  • Computer studies,
  • Social studies.

There is often a shortage of French teachers to work in schools in Ghanaian communities. You will work alongside local teachers but usually end up teaching your own class. You will have about 18 hours of teaching time working in the school or university. In some cases volunteers will do a combination helping to teach some English and some French or Spanish.   If you are a French speaker or fluent in other foreign languages you will be welcomed into schools to share your knowledge. Volunteers with special skills are welcome to the project.
