You will assist with loving and caring for as well as mentoring orphans and physically disabled, from the very young to high school age. Despite the difficulties they have faced, these children are still so full of warmth and joy and are sure to be an inspiration to anyone who works alongside them.
Our project in Gweru, Zimbabwe will take you on a wonderful and worthwhile adventure in the heart of Africa. You will work with orphans and disabled children, and your scope of activities will range from teaching assistance to repairs and maintenance. You will also help care for the younger children and the babies, entertaining them, and much much more. Those children are some of sweetest and most joyful you'll ever meet, and their smiles will make all your hard work worthwhile.
Activities include Teaching assistance, study programmes, workshop hosting, sports coaching, repairs and maintenance at the homes, painting, gardening, youth camps and life skills training are just a few areas in which you will have to opportunity to impact on these young people’s lives.
Your help in caring for babies and younger children will involve changing and feeding as well as assisting with planned activities and games at the homes.
You will also gave the opportunity to teach children from different schools in the area, where teachers are overwhelmed by the number of students and really need volunteers to help them teach and care for the kids.
For this placement, you will be accommodated in a private reserve where you will have the opportunity have hands-on interactions with lion cubs and enjoy elephant rides, horse riding, canoeing, and much more!
