EdUKaid

EdUKaid is a fast developing UK based educational charity currently seeking enthusiastic, motivated individuals to work as volunteer teachers in the Mtwara region of southern Tanzania.

 

They are recruiting English language teachers (TEFL/TESL certificate required before placement begins) to teach at primary and secondary level. They are also recruiting science and mathematics teachers to teach in English at secondary level (UK A level equivalent required). Placements are for six months with the option to extend.

 

One of the main differences between EdUKaid and many other volunteer organisations is that they really value the work that their volunteers undertake and so they do not charge volunteers other than a joining fee of £350 for them to purchase internal travel, residency permits etc. EdUKaid will provide you with food and accommodation in their newly furnished property next to the Indian Ocean, as well as covering any expenses directly incurred during your work with the organisation.

 

Your placement will require you to work within a physically and mentally demanding environment, however it is the challenges you will face that will make your work in Africa most rewarding. You will be working as part of a team of other volunteers and will also work closely with the Tanzanian teachers within the provided school syllabi.
