Raleigh - Volunteers needed to join expeditions either as volunteer managers (25 years+) or venturers (17-24 years) in Borneo, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and India for 4 to 10 week periods.

 

Global Vision International expeditions offer adventurous individuals the chance to make a difference in some of the world’s most critical conservation and community projects worldwide. Join projects in over 20 countries, from Coral Reef conservation in Mexico and the Seychelles, Wildlife Research in the Amazon Rainforest, Costa Rica and South Africa and community work throughout Latin America and Asia.    

 

Gapforce - Work in some of the world's most remote dive locations in the Bahamas and Fiji,  research in the Amazon in Ecuador, explore the forgotten lands of Nepal and Tibet, work placements in Australia, medical elective placements and more.  No experience necessary!   

  

 Amazon Basin Research and Conservation Project, Peru - this position provides a rare opportunity to work alongside and learn from expert biologists and conservationists in some of the most remote, fascinating and largely unspoiled parts of the Amazon rainforest. As from March 2010.

 Large Carnivore Conservation Project, Caprivi Delta, Namibia - Monitor large predators (lion, leopard, hyena, cheetah and wild dog) and take part in community development building work in the beautiful Caprivi Delta region of Namibia where free-roaming large predators and people still play the fatal game of Africa’s ancient Eden. Places from June 2010 available.



 Dolphin & Whale Research, Mediterranean
Take part in dolphin and whale research in the Ligurian Sea in Italy and the Ionian Sea and work alongside scientists on land and at sea from 1 week upwards.  Places available from May to October 2010.



Desert Elephants Project, Namibia
Track desert elephants and take part in community development building work in the beautiful Damaraland region of the Namib Desert where the famous desert-adapted elephants roam free.  Volunteers will sleep out in the bush, under the stars and cook around a campfire. Opportunities all year round from 2 weeks up to 12 weeks.

 
  
Volunteers can join this programme and take part in marine and turtle conservation work involving research and monitoring of nesting turtles, education and outreach, and alternative income generating activities all throughout the year in Watamu, Kenya. The Watamu Marine Park is part of a United Nations Biosphere Reserve and has been designated as a place of great natural beauty with miles of beautiful beaches and corals rich in marine flora and fauna.
  


 Ocean Spirits Volunteer Programme, Grenada, Caribbean
Join the project as a Research Assistant volunteer for 3 week periods, and take part in night patrols, flipper tagging, nest excavations, egg counts and so on on the Caribbean island of Grenada in a team of 6. 

 
                 
An opportunity to work with the 'world-first' reintroduction of White Lions back to the wild in their endemic area - the Greater Timbavati region, in South Africa. Volunteers form part of the conservation monitoring and tracking team, and have a rare opportunity to gain authentic field experience whilst making a valuable contribution to the long-term conservation of the white lions.
  
 
Statia Conservation Project, St. Eustatius, Caribbean
The main aim of the project is to assist St. Eustatius National Parks Foundation with the conservation of their two parks – the Marine Park and the Quill National Park.  Volunteers will have the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge about conservation, the local flora and fauna of Statia and take part in trail work in the parks and sea turtle monitoring. 
 
 
 
CheetahCheetah Conservation Project, Botswana
As a research volunteer with Cheetah Conservation Botswana you will be participating in hands on research to help conserve the world’s fastest mammal, the cheetah. You will be carrying out vital research within the Kalahari desert in Botswana, assisting the research and community education team with their activities.

 
Iceland Wilderness Management Programme, Iceland
Live and work in the heart of pristine Icelandic wilderness, help to remove invasive species, trail work, and way marking.  Volunteers are needed for four week programmes.  Ideal short placement for those interested in experiencing wilderness camping and rugged terrain whilst working to preserve a national park.
 
 
Nevada Wilderness Programme, USA
In collaboration with Workingabroad Projects, The Nevada Wilderness Programme aims to involve International and American participants who wish to collaborate together on environmental projects throughout Nevada's public lands, for example at Lake Tahoe, the Great Basin, Lake Mead and so on.
