All these programmes are available for a period of 1 week to 1 year for those with a more hands on approach towards travel.

 

Short term Programmes:

Game Rangers Experience:  Always wanted to be a Game Ranger in Africa?  This programme allows people with a limited time available to experience the life of a game ranger in the Kruger Park.  The lectures are fun and informative and the majority of the programme takes place in the bush.  You will learn basic tracking skills, survival and how to counter poaching of the wildlife.

 

Chimpanzee Sanctuary Experience:  Ever wondered what motivated Jane Goodall to study chimps and dedicate her live to the conservation of these primates?   The Jane Goodall Institute and Umhloti Private Game Reserve opened the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Southern Africa dedicated to rescuing abused and orphaned chimpanzees.  You will learn about their history and behaviour and will assist the curator with daily observations of the chimpanzees in their wilderness enclosures, also patrolling the fence line against poachers.

 

Rural Community Experience:  Comfortable at home wanting to do more for those less fortunate than you?  Operating from their camp next to the Kruger National Park you will visit rural schools and provide daily meals to pupils and assist with the sport training programme in the communities.  At night time you will visit the Kruger Concession,

going on safari.

 

The course is an entry level Nature Guiding course endorsed by FGASA and approved by THETA and the Jane Goodall Institute South Africa.

 

1 month Jane Goodall Institute South Africa START Programme (R17 050.00)  The programme is specifically directed to participants wanting to help children in the rural community with early motor skills development.

 

 The programme is designed to allow the participant to assist the rural community  schools with their feeding and sport education programmes.  The Jane Goodall Institute of South Africa fully supports the programme.
