They offer a great Portuguese language programme, during which you will not only learn the language but also get to know the entire Brazilian culture. Besides the classes, they have different weekly activities from daily boat trips to a soccer game; there is something for everyone.
 
About Go Brazil
Go Brazil is a modern business located in the city of Maceió, Brazil. Their mission is to teach their students the Portuguese language as fast and fluently as possible with an efficient method and comfortable surroundings. If students still have some difficulties with learning the language, they will find special ways to help them improve their deficits.
 
The school
The school is located in the heart of Maceió, close to the beach and in the best area, Ponta Verde. The area is safe and has many shops and restaurants.  They offer all kinds of different Portuguese courses, from: beginner, intermediate to advanced. Classes are held Monday through Friday in the morning and afternoon. All students receive a transcript (certificate) upon completing the course.
    
They offer different packages which include lessons, living with a host family, or in private apartment, capoeira classes, support in Brazil, laundry service, city tours, discounts in bars and restaurants and more.
 
In addition, they offer internships and voluntary work opportunities.
 
Accommodation
They offer different accommodation: in host families, private apartments, beach houses close to the city, or hotels. They always recommend staying in host families. Having the opportunity to live with a Brazilian family will give you a totally different learning experience and will help improving your Portuguese a lot.  They are all lovely families and very hospitable. They will provide a room with all meals included if you prefer, or just breakfast and dinner. All the houses of the families are in a safe and good neighborhoods, close to the school.
 
Internships
Do you want to get a whole new working experience? Why not improve your professional skills and combine it with learning Portuguese in Brazil? A person who has worked and lived in another country has not only gained new knowledge but has also shown courage.
They can help you to find the right internship to suit you, and send you a personalised report on all the different projects and enterprises that you can join.  However, if you don't speak fluent Portuguese yet, they strongly advise you to do a language course before you start your internship.

Voluntary work
They need volunteers from different backgrounds and with different talents; you can work in areas such as in education, social work, environmental work, business, health care and a wide variety of other fields. Again, they strongly advise you to take an intensive Portuguese course in Maceio before volunteering. 
 
List of available voluntary work
 
1. Voluntary Work in a public school
If you would like to do something worthwhile with your time out then this is an excellent and rewarding school project. 
 
The public school is located close to the beach Ponta Verde. It is a small school with 300 students. The Young ones between 6 and 12 years study in the morning, however the older ones study at night.  Volunteers are urgently needed to help the children increase and develop manual skills. Your working hours will be varied. You have the choice of working either in the mornings, afternoons, evenings or even sometimes when they have special activities at the weekends.

As a volunteer your activities may include: 
  • Organizing activities and sports, especially during the breaks
  • Helping to teach classes
  • Tutoring children
  • Helping out at any time
  • Assisting with a variety of administrative tasks at the centre
Requirements: 
Motivation to work with children, Outgoing personality, flexible in their attitude, have experience of working with children, Good Portuguese (at least 4 weeks intensive-course).

Working period
Min. 1 month,  max. 5 months.

2. Hippotherapy with horses - a horse as "therapist “
Movement is a condition for human well-being. This social project treats mentally sick or handicapped children. The Hippotherapy is a special measure, which avails itself the horse as a "living person of training unit “. By the movements of the horse walking, rythym will be transferred to humans. The multidimensional oscillation rhythm of the horse in the pace "step “is related the movement sample of the human course. The therapy trains in this way the skills of equilibrium, symmetry of the movement, the rhythm ability and perseverance.
 
Requirements:
In order to give to the children a feeling of security, it requires qualified co-workers and calm horses, who are trained particularly for the therapy.  The Volunteer doesn’t need a particular training; however he should have interest and previous knowledge with the work with horses or therapy. In addition the volunteer should speak flowing Portuguese or take a 4 weeks an intensive course in Maceio.
 
3. Teaching English
Joining this programme will provide you with a varied timetable of activities each day. By teaching English in the mornings you will be imparting a vital life skill to local community members allowing them to take advantage of the growing tourism in the local area.
In the evenings, you can use your free time for different activities, for instance Wednesday is your turn to learn from the locals as you join Capoeira classes – the ancient Afro-Brazilian art form consisting of dance, martial arts and music. This programme will leave you with a real feel for Brazil and the local lifestyle of community.
 
Requirements:
Speaking fluently English, Good Portuguese, Fun and motivation to teach,  be open-minded
 
Volunteers are encouraged to use fun and interactive teaching methods to get the students involved and enthusiastic about learning.
 
4. Environmental NGO
They offer volunteers opportunities in different NGOs. One of their main projects is a Non Governmental Organization founded in July of 2001, located in Maceió in the State of Alagoas, Brazil. Composed by the team that developed economically and environmentally sustainable energy projects based on renewable sources, in the northeast area of Brazil.  The team has experience in projects development of biomass, photovoltaics, wind energy and is involved in all aspects of project development, from feasibility studies to its implementation. Through out the microenterprise model for rural electrification with PV, (Programa Luz do Sol), the team has been stimulating the photovoltaic market in northeast of Brazil, through the use of a model based on Solar Home Systems rental company.
They also develop environment projects and sustainable rural development, with the objective of improving life quality and increasing income and preserving the environmental conditions. The volunteer has many different kind of jobs, depending on his interest. He can help to teach the locals how to use their environment and agriculture. Besides, the physical work, they always need help with administration.
 
Requirements: 
Motivation to work in NGO and with environment, iInterest in environmentally projects, Open-minded and friendly to local people, Office (Word, Excel), Good Portuguese (at least 4 weeks intensive-course)

5.) Event management Internship
Are you interested in Events management and want to get a whole new working experience? Why not in Maceio, Brazil? The Brazilians are famous for their great events and parties. Here you will get to know a whole new culture experience and will learn how to organize events. You will see that it can not only be a lot of work, but also make so much fun.
 
This firm gives you the change to plan all kinds of events, from small birthday parties up to big social events. Your opinion is always welcome!
 
Work involved:  Plan and organize events, Work with a team, Computer work, Meet with clients
 
Requirements:  Social and outgoing personality, Interest in Events management, Able to work in a team, Flexible working hours, sometimes until late at night, MS-Office, Good Portuguese (you can learn it in a 4 hour intensive course)

6.) PSDB – Political Party
The Brazilian Social Democracy Party (Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira, PSDB) is a political party in Brazil. Its mascot is a Tucan and its members are called tucanos.   In the general elections, 1 October 2006, the party won 65 out of 513 seats in the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil and 5 out of 27 seats available in the Senate of Brazil totaling 15 senators.
This internship is a great opportunity for students who are interested in political or international relation.
Tasks:

“AL Comunicação e Design”
If you are interested in graphic design or looking for internship, then they have exactly what you are looking at. They offer an internship in the graphic design agencies “AL Comunicação e Design” in Maceio. Interns are always welcome and included in all working processes, here you are a member of the team and don’t just make coffee and copies.
Work:
· Designing
· Work with corel draw and Photoshop
· Plan marketing strategies

Abilities:
· Corel draw and Photoshop
· Creativity
· Interest in graphic design
· Portuguese (can be learned in a 4 weeks intensive course)

The internship can last from 1 up to 5 months.

Language School Activities
They offer different weekly activities such as: Surfing and wakeboard lessons, boat trips, Capuera and Jiu-jitsu-classes, weekend trips, excursions, visits to sugar cane factories, bike and motorbike rental, soccer games, dance lessons, and much more.

Maceió
Maceió is with 800 000 inhabitants the capital of the state of Alagoas.  Alagoas is located in northeast Brazil and got his name because of the 22 lagoons (Portuguese: lagoas).  Maceio has a warm and sunny climate year-around with three hundred days of sun and miles of wonderful beaches with crystal clear warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
 
Maceio is a safe and relaxed location as well as a modern city. Beside the most beautiful beaches and exotic untouched nature, you can visit shopping malls, theatres, restaurants, sport events, and disco clubs.  Maceio also has a very friendly and social cultural life as well as good infrastructure.
