South Africa Volunteers
South Africa Volunteers is a community based volunteer programme in Port St Johns, a small town located along the Wild Coast of South Africa. The intention of the project is two fold. Firstly, they want to empower the minds and spark the initiative of the community of Port St. John's; helping people help themselves. Secondly they want to present an affordable and practical volunteer programme.
They run many different projects within the community, including a life skills centre and a school, for which they are always looking for new volunteers.

They run 3 projects, one is a primary school, one is sustainable development in a rural area including community permaculture gardening and the other is healing, support work with a group of HIV women.Volunteers are welcome to get involved with any one or a combination of these projects depending on their interests and skills. They have a team of 10 permanent community workers who implement and oversee these projects. They have been taking volunteers for the past 19 months from various overseas countries, and have had around 50 volunteers during this time and they have stayed for varying lengths of time.

They currently charge 25 GB pounds (30 Euros) per day to volunteer on this programme, which covers all meals, accommodation, transport from Umtata and transport to projects during the stay. They also provide a wide range of free-time activities that are free of charge. All the money goes directly to the project after food and transport costs have been deducted.
