They run the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary, where the public can view wild black bears in their natural setting and be educated about bear conservation and the habitat that supports the bear. Volunteers are recruited from May through to September to assist with the daily operation of the centre. Tasks may include: work with bear behaviour, construction, interpretation for the visitors, maintenance of the grounds and more. Volunteers may stay for any length of time. If possible, volunteers are housed on site. All other costs must be covered by the volunteer. Internships are also available; preference is given to those who are enrolled in or have completed post secondary education in wildlife management, biology, environmental education etc.
