This rescue center in the middle of the Peruvian rainforest gives home to confiscated or endangered local animals such as monkeys, anteater, felines, sloths, turtles and parrots, which live in big enclosures in their natural environment. The overall aim of the rescue center is to reintroduce the animals into their natural habitat. Another very significant purpose of the center is the initiation to improve reforestation and the planting of local trees and plants in order to reestablish the Peruvian local flora in the parts where industrial logging destroyed whole regions. The volunteers work will permanently be undertaken in pure nature and among very exotic animals, which means that it would be beneficial if the volunteers are nature- as well as animal lovers and do not mind physical work outdoors.
In general the tasks the volunteers in Peru have to accomplish on a daily basis include:
- Feeding and caring for the animals
- Supervising the animals
- Cleaning the cages
- Constructing new cages
- Building toys for the animals
- Planting fruit trees and plants
