Archelon - Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece

Every year 350 – 400 volunteers participate in their turtle conservation projects.  Their summer programme ranges between early May to late October.  Volunteers are most needed on the islands of Zakynthos, Crete and Peloponnesus due to the large number of loggerheads that have their nesting beaches there.  Throughout the rest of the year, there are also opportunities for volunteers to work on issues relating to the turtles, such as public relations, office and maintenance work and so on.  Volunteers are required to be at least 18 years of age, with the ability to communicate in English.  It is essential that volunteers are culturally sensitive due to the small international teams that they will be working with.  Volunteers must bring their own tents and sleeping bags.  Those interested in applying should contact the Programme Coordinator at the above address or e-mail.  If successful, applicants will be informed within a month of receipt of their application.
