The original project here was established as a rescue centre and an animal welfare project at the Lao Zoo in 2015. Due to the success, interest and need for this project, the LCTW was born as a registered non-profit foundation in Laos in 2018. We now strive forward and have become the only Laos registered foundation for wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release, and also conservation and education.
At the LCTW, we currently care for a huge variety of species numbering just under 500 individuals. We offer an Animal-based studies programme where students can conduct professional research in areas such as wildlife behaviour and zoology, wildlife conservation, nutrition and diets, the rehabilitation process, the illegal wildlife trade and much more! We are very open to any projects that positively benefit our animals and their conservation.
Our facility welcomes short or long-term participation from individual students and larger group trips. A range of activities benefit different areas of interest. For any students wishing to complete their Animal Care placement requirements, we can offer wildlife husbandry training coached by our experienced staff and management team. For students interested in completing internships or thesis', our unique blend of Southeast Asian taxa and taxa from other continents will be of great benefit to you!
If you have a research idea, write us a proposal and our Directors will be in touch! Check out our website for more information about the work we are doing in Laos!
