The volunteer work in Guatemala takes place in an ecological park on the beautiful pacific coast. Within these program volunteers are able to engage themselves in sea turtle projects, breedings projects and mangrove conservation programs. Whilst trying to preserve and protect the fauna and flora, the purpose is as well to improve the life quality of the local residents by offering them an economical alternative. It is very imporant to protect the very endagenered turtles since people collect their eggs to sell them on local markets. Further, this projects aim to communicate the importance of the preservation process of fish products and the endangered biodiversity, in order to boost the eco-tourism. The park also engages in education activities like for example lectures on ecology or littering and the missing respect for the endangered species. In local schools activities such as beach clean-ups or baby turtle releases are being promoted.
Be part of this project and protect the turtles and their freshly breaded eggs from local collectors, which sell the eggs since they are considered to be a delicacy and an aphrodisiac.
