This project is located on Thailand’s Koh Lanta Yai Island. It is the largest island off the west coast of southern Thailand and renowned for its beautiful beaches and excellent scuba diving opportunities.
The project is based at a shelter that operates a sterilisation program for stray dogs and cats and aims to provide a humane solution to over-population and mistreatment of homeless animals on the island. The shelter also provides medical treatment and care for sick and injured animals and strives to further improve the lives of the island’s cats and dogs through education of the local community around ethical animal treatment.
The project relies heavily on volunteers to help provide daily care to the shelter’s animals and animals brought in for medical treatment. Volunteer activities include assisting with medical care, feeding and watering and cleaning enclosures. You will also help enrich the lives of the shelter’s dogs through socialisation, exercise and play and help promote the centre and its work within the local community.
