Volunteer at an ethical sanctuary. Learn about animal behaviour and animal welfare, and get hands-on experience in rescuing animals that need help and restoring the surrounding forest.
Did you know?
This animal sanctuary has been featured several times on the “SOS Planeta” and “SOS Animal” programmes on National Portuguese TV, watched by over 500,000 viewers!
Located at the very edge of the Iberian Peninsula in southwest Europe, Portugal is a combination of cultural, historic and natural treasures. The country, with such geographic and climatic diversity, offers a range of ideal habitats for its flora and fauna.
Learn about animal behaviour from different species and how to contribute to their welfare and needs. Help to reforest land that has been used for agriculture and that will be transformed into a forest with native species.
The sanctuary is located within a stunning 27 hectares of land, in the hillsides near Santarém, about 80km North of the capital city of Lisbon.
During your free days, you can take time to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings, or travel to visit famous Portuguese tourist and cultural sights in Lisbon, Santarém, Tomar, Leiria, Caldas da Rainha or Foz do Arelho.
